DRISHTI MUSIC SCHOOL

The visually impaired have a natural flair for music. This quality is also sometimes adopted by them as a means of earning a livelihood. For the same, they usually form an orchestral group and try to earn money through their talent and skills.

Taking this spirit along, we started Drishri Mahila Mahavidyalaya in 2010, after associating with Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Prayagraj, U.P. In this, through professional music instructors girls are getting professionally trained and getting proficient in this field. It is also important to note that musical education is being given parallel to general education, to ensure the holistic development of each child.

Presently 38 girls are registered, who will be receiving 6 years of training. Currently, girls who show prior knowledge and skills in music are only enrolled. Many girls have also already benefited from this program.

To ensure that each girl in the institution gets a holistic education, Music is taught just like any other subject from grade 1-8. This also remains true for extra-curricular activities like art. Girls who show exceptional skills in music are also sent to music universities to gain further knowledge and hone their skills.

In the future, our aim is to open this facility to those visually impaired girls who are talented but untrained, and who do not have any valid degree. These girls only get a chance to hone and ameliorate their skills through events like Kirtan, which has proven to not be enough. Hence taking in these girls would help them gain more knowledge and also gain a degree, which would greatly help them in making a better living.
